data42 is Novartis’ ground-breaking initiative that harnesses the power of R&D data in one of the largest and most diverse datasets in the pharmaceutical industry to reimagine medicine. data42 applies machine learning, artificial intelligence, and sophisticated analytics to generate new insights that increase our understanding of disease and medicines, improve R&D decision-making and ultimately reimagine drug discovery and development. And to take this a step further, we are expanding data42 to create a first-of-its-kind, diverse ecosystem.

The Clinical Data Expert will organize and integrate clinical data from various sources to capture and improve the quality of the data through its lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to help shape one of the industry's leading data transformation efforts that will contribute to and change the way R&D is conducted.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Explore the data in order to understand its structure and the way it works.
- Have a basic high-level understanding of the code written in the pipeline, in order to have confidence in the business logic rules which have been coded.
- Query the final data to test its quality

**Minimum requirements**

What you will bring to the role:

- CDISC data structures, SAS file formats, particularly SDTM and ADaM (and would be able to make the link between these and legacy data structures).
- ETL and data integration concepts.
- Be at ease with simple Python code
- Be able to work with Spark data confidently (using one or more of SparkSQL, PySpark, SparkR or knowledge of another flavor of SQL)
- The individual should be able to create a vision of how the clinical and biostatistician’s needs can best be served in the context of consolidated, multi-trial clinical datastores
- Be able to communicate effectively with data engineers, clinicians and biostatisticians
