Position Overview

The International Government Affairs Director, Switzerland is responsible for coordinating activities with external stakeholders (political, patient, and others) focused on market access for Exact Sciences products in target expansion markets around the world. Collaborating closely and cross-functionally with the Medical, Market Access, and Corporate Affairs functions as well as in-market teams, the incumbent collaboratively develops and drives the implementation of government and public affairs strategies in countries across the world to support the company’s growth plans and especially reimbursement goals. The position reports to the VP and Counsel, Expansion Markets.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Developing and implementing government affairs strategies in collaboration with other internal teams to achieve company goals, especially concerning reimbursement.
- Understanding the public policy environment in target markets.
- Guiding the development of persuasive content to support public communication strategies in support of government affairs goals.
- Preparing briefings and other communication to external political and governmental stakeholders.
- Representing the company as needed in public policy fora and industry organizations focused on public policymaking.
- Managing external partners in the execution of government affairs strategies.
- Coordinating and collaborating across a variety of functions and levels of the organization to develop government affairs and policy strategies.
- Maintaining strong awareness of relevant laws, regulations, and legislative developments.
- Representing the company publicly with political stakeholders and public officials.
- Collaborating cross-functionally in developing crisis-response strategies and supporting execution if needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant field (for example, public policy or law).
- Minimum of 10 years of government and public relations experience, including at director level, in healthcare with demonstrated success in public policy work in a variety of jurisdictions.
- Superb written and oral communication skills, with public poise and presence.
- Fluency in English and one other major European language, additional language skills preferred.
- Sound understanding of compliance rules relevant to interaction with public officials.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple functions and cultures.
- Impeccable integrity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a governmental or public agency.
- Familiarity with healthcare and medical device / IVD regulation across multiple jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with issues in the screening for and treatment of cancer.
- Experience managing multiple overlapping deadlines and workstreams.
- Collaborative mindset to ensure that Exact Sciences’ messaging and style guidelines are used consistently across materials.

Physical Requirements
- Willing and able to travel frequently and be responsive/available after hours and on weekends, as necessary, especially to manage time zone differences.
- Able to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
