System Integration Lead

Your mission at Climeworks is to lead a matrixed team responsible for the development of a mature functioning integrated system with the ability to capture and deliver CO2 at a guaranteed performance and cost.
You are accountable for the overall system optimization and its accurate documentation, including:
- setting appropriate requirements for the overall system to achieve target performance and cost
- deriving top-level requirements and distributing them appropriately to subsystems and components
- system maturation to TRL 7; review and approve validation of components (led by Component Technical Lead)
- overall system development timelines, including integrated validation vehicle timelines
- program budget management for each system component as well as the development and operation of integrated validation test facilities (IVTF).
You ensure smooth and clear technical interfaces between components, enabling expeditious development through transparency.
You accept or decline change requests for implementation of potential improvements case by case based on your technical expertise.
You work closely with the System Delivery Lead (SDL) to ensure:
- timely R&D inputs to Delivery to pre-empt bottlenecks, early identification of suppliers and front load delivery planning
- You hold an M.Sc. or PhD degree level within a scientific or engineering discipline.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in technology development, product design or engineering.
- You gathered experience as a Senior systems engineer, or technical project manager in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary complex hardware development environment.
- You have led project teams of at least 10 people.
- You have a proven track record of maturing systems effectively to commercial readiness level.
- You are familiar with risk analysis (including FMEA) and root cause analysis tools.
- You are self-driven, an excellent communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas simply.
- You’re a people leader and know how to lead a team made up of multiple backgrounds and experiences to achieve a goal.
- You are business fluent in English.
