Are you an experienced and collaborative leader who enjoys building and improving manufacturing processes from the ground up and successfully transferring them to production?We are looking for a Head of (Group Lead) Process Engineeringto guide and support a talented team of engineers and technicians, helping to ensure the continued growth of our product portfolio through excellence in manufacturing and automation.You are structured, motivated, empathetic, and data-informed, and you value learning from challenges just as much as from success.If you are ready to contribute meaningfully to a dynamic, forward-thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.TasksLead and support a team of engineers and technicians, fostering mentorship, motivation, and professional developmentDevelop and optimize manufacturing processes from concept to production handover, ensuring quality, scalability, and cost-effectivenessCollaborate closely with product development, materials engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing engineering to translate requirements into robust and efficient processesUse data analytics and statistical process control to guide decisions and continuous improvementDevelop and implement a process technology roadmap aligned with business objectives and market needsRequirementsMaster’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical fieldMinimum 6 years of experience in process engineering, including at least 4 years in a leadership or team management roleDemonstrated ability to build and lead diverse, high-performing engineering teamsSignificant experience defining high-volume hardware manufacturing processes, including automation of assembly, gluing, and optical inspectionExpertise in DFM, FMEA, Gage R&R, DOE, SPC, CPK, and related statistical modelling techniques, with a proven record of applying them to improve processesExperience in cleanroom environments is a plusStrong collaboration, strategic thinking, and planning skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities, with the capacity to convey complex technical topics clearlyBusiness fluency in English; German is an advantageBenefitsAnnual salary review and annual bonus (ESOP = Employee Stock Ownership Plan)Flexible working hoursHome officeRegular events: Ski day, Bike2Work, Friday beer, Optorocket, Float to work & moreGreat place to work activities (coffee/tea/fruits for free, various activities during the year) and OptogymVacation: 5 weeks vacation + additional compensation daysPension (SWISS LIFE): Attractive pension fund package with coverage beyond the statutory requirementsSick day insurance: up to 730 days of salary coverage in the event of sicknessParenthood: 16 weeks maternity leave, 3 weeks paternity leave + flexible return policyIf you’re passionate about driving innovation in manufacturing and want to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, apply today.Join Optotune and help shape the future of precision optics manufacturing.
