Genf, Genf, Schweiz CERN Vollzeit
Company Overview
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is a unique scientific institution in the world. It has and continues to propel major discoveries, not only in particle physics but also in our understanding of the universe.

We are an interdisciplinary team at CERN working on Magnetic and beam-based Modeling in CERN synchrotrons. Our goal is to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation by developing advanced magnetic models for the Proton Synchrotron (PS) main magnets.

This is your opportunity to join us on this exciting journey, as we strive to make groundbreaking contributions to the field of Applied Physics.

Salary
You will receive a competitive monthly stipend ranging between 6287 and 6911 Swiss Francs per month, which will be adjusted according to your individual circumstances.

Job Description
As an Applied Physicist, you will extend the existing model to cover eddy currents and pole face windings, while providing data for hysteresis modeling. You will also develop and benchmark a magnetic and optics model for the LEIR bending dipole, using beam measurements. Depending on progress, you may improve models in the AD and PSB.

Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and refining magnetic models for complex PS main magnets
* Improving optics models that estimate parameters based on OPERA predictions
* Setting up careful optics measurements for comparison

Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have a professional background in Applied Physics (or a related field) and possess the following skills:
* Knowledge of magnetic modeling, including dynamic effects
* Experience with linear and non-linear optics measurements
* Proficiency in English

You must also meet the eligibility criteria:
* Be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
* Have a Master's degree with 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation experience
* Not have had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before

Benefits
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including:
* A generous monthly stipend
* Coverage by CERN's health scheme and pension fund
* Installation grant, family, child, and infant allowances, payment of travel expenses, and paid leave

Others
CERN offers a unique work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and we welcome applications from talented individuals worldwide.
