Global Evaluation Capacity Development Lead

The Universität Bern is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead its flagship program, the International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET). The successful candidate will provide strategic vision and leadership to IPDET, ensuring its continued success as a premier training program for monitoring and evaluation capacity development in developing countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to IPDET, including business development, partnership building, and alignment with global evaluation capacity development needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of IPDET's regional training programs and on-demand, customized trainings for institutions.
  • Develop new programs and enhance existing ones, including curriculum and didactic development, to meet the evolving needs of stakeholders.
  • Oversee a team of professionals, ensuring effective coordination, finance, communication, and marketing, as well as administrative support.
  • Engage in teaching activities in IPDET based on capacity and academic background, contributing to the program's academic excellence.
  • Ensure the quality of training design and delivery, program evaluation, and reporting, upholding the program's high standards.
  • Align IPDET's activities with the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) priorities, fostering a collaborative and impactful partnership.
  • Nurture IPDET's alumni network, strengthening the program's global reach and impact.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in social sciences, with a PhD preferred, and at least 15 years of experience in evaluation capacity building, including curriculum development and evaluation training, in an international development context.
  • Leadership experience in a multicultural environment, with a proven track record of success.
  • University experience, either academic or administrative, is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility, reliability, and a confident, friendly demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills, with working knowledge of German a plus.
