Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Optotune is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead our dynamic team.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Optotune. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge mechanical systems and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the mechanical engineering team following Optotune's core values.
  • Support product, process, and technology development from concept designs through to product launch and mass production.
  • Develop 3D models, perform mechanical simulations, and create detailed design documentation, including technical drawings.
  • Develop process tooling to ensure the manufacturability of our products at low costs, high throughput, and maximum yield.
  • Evaluate new concepts and feasibility studies.
  • Develop and maintain the mechanical engineering toolset, including CAD and Product Data Maintenance (PDM) systems and associated processes.
  • Collaborate with project leaders and multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements:

  • MSc/BSc degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
  • 5 years of detailed mechanical design experience in an industry setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Experience in product development, preferably in Consumer, Meditech, or Industrial Opto-electronics industries.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals with proficiency in design tools, including CAD, simulations, D/PFMEA, GD&T, and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Experience in establishing, optimizing, and maintaining PDM systems is valuable.
  • Creative and analytical thinking, proactive, well-organized, autonomous, hands-on, open-minded for challenging ideas.
  • Proficiency in English is required, and German is an advantage.
