About the Role

Optotune is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead our dynamic mechanical engineering team. As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge mechanical systems and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the mechanical engineering team, focusing on projects and innovation.
  • Spearhead product, process, and technology development from concept designs to product launch and mass production.
  • Develop 3D models, conduct mechanical simulations, and create detailed design documentation, including technical drawings.
  • Design process tooling to ensure manufacturability at low costs, high throughput, and maximum yield.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate new concepts.
  • Develop and maintain the mechanical engineering toolset, including CAD and Product Data Maintenance (PDM) systems, and associated processes.
  • Collaborate with project leaders and multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements

  • MSc/BSc degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
  • 5 years of detailed mechanical design experience in an industry setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Experience in product development, preferably in Consumer, Meditech, or Industrial Opto-electronics industries.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, proficiency with design tools, including CAD, Simulations, D/PFMEA, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience in establishing, optimizing, and maintaining PDM systems valuable.
  • Creative and analytical thinking, proactive, well-organized, autonomous, hands-on, open-minded for challenging ideas.
  • Proficiency in English required, German is an advantage.
