Chemical Modification of Polymers and Electrospinning for Advanced Filter Materials

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at Empa, a leading research institution in the field of materials science and technology.

About the Position:

  • This two-year position is part of an innovative project that combines scalable chemical modification with electrospinning for inert filter composites.
  • The successful candidate will take the lead in organizing project meetings, chemically modifying commercial high-performance polymers, producing electrospun membranes, and transferring these composites using various techniques.
  • In addition, the researcher will establish and implement high-temperature and chemical fatigue testing methods to ensure the durability of these advanced filter materials.

Your Profile:

  • A PhD degree in Chemical Functionalisation/Engineering, Electrospinning, Materials/Polymer Science/Technology, or related fields.
  • Substantial experience in polymer processing, materials science, and electrospinning technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (CEFR C1) and German (at least basic level).
  • An astute approach to unfamiliar technologies, scientific curiosity, independence, and out-of-the-box thinking.
