Senior Consultant

WHO is seeking a highly experienced consultant to support the development of sustainable business models for local production of mRNA vaccines and biologics in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Key Responsibilities- Develop and enhance sustainability-related elements of the WHO mRNA technology transfer programme, including collaborating with program manufacturing partners, conducting feasibility assessments, and providing business model insights.
- Prepare comprehensive stakeholder engagement reports to support the WHO mRNA Technology Transfer programme's policy and sustainability efforts, including summarizing engagements with key entities working on local production and vaccine sustainability.
- Contribute to the WHO Health Technology Access Pool (HTAP) expansion by engaging with prospective technology providers to evaluate opportunities for license acquisition and know-how transfer.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or higher in public health, life sciences, or a related field, with over 10 years of relevant experience in developing national or regional plans for local production of medical products, biotech industry, and venture capital for biomanufacturing.
They will also have demonstrated experience in developing plans for production of vaccines in Africa, technical command of pharmaceutical and vaccines production, and direct experience of investing in the healthcare sector, preferably within the biopharma/vaccines area.
The candidate should have excellent technical writing and communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural team, and strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, presentation software, databases, and web navigators.
Language RequirementsThe consultant is expected to have expert knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another WHO language.
Location and RemunerationThe consultant will work on a home-based basis and is expected to travel. The remuneration will be in the range of USD 10,000 - 12,500 per month, with additional living expenses not applicable.
The expected duration of the contract is 11 months, with additional contracts may be offered depending on programme needs and availability of funds.
