Research Cryogenic Systems Engineer

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is seeking a highly skilled Research Cryogenic Systems Engineer to join its team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, commissioning, and operating a dedicated experimental set-up to test cooling options for magnets that use forced flow in confined geometries. This role requires a strong understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics, as well as experience in setting up experimental test stations.

About the Role

  • Design, commission, and operate a dedicated experimental set-up to test cooling options for magnets.
  • Develop and implement thermohydraulic validation strategies for superconducting magnets.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mech/Aerospace/Process Eng. Appl Physics (or a related field) with 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • PhD in Mech/Aerospace/Process Eng. Appl Physics (or a related field) with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
