Tax Director Global Strategist

We are seeking a seasoned Global Tax Director to join our team at SGS. This key role will oversee global tax reporting, tax accounting, and Swiss tax compliance.
The ideal candidate will have +8-10 years of experience in corporate tax and IFRS (IAS12) with large multinational companies, on a global level. They will be responsible for managing and coordinating audit activities, tax provisioning, tax risk management, and facilitating the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
In this dynamic environment, you will lead and deliver results, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive change with a positive attitude and critical mindset. You will also collaborate closely with multiple departments, including Group Accounting, Regional Tax Directors, and Global Treasury.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the effective tax rate and cash tax rate for the group during the year;
- Coordinating audit activities with external auditors;
- Overseeing tax-related topics, tax provisioning, tax risk management, and current and deferred tax calculation for the group;
- Facilitating the preparation of consolidated financial statements in IFRS;
- Managing and updating the Group Tax Policy, tax control framework, and tax procedures;
- Initiating and managing publications such as a Tax Transparency report and Public CbCR;
- Managing and updating Minimum Control Standards Tax and tax risk management processes;
- Collaborating with HQ peer groups initiated by SwissHolding or similar organizations;
- Managing tax audits and requests for companies in Switzerland;
- Negotiating with tax authorities in Switzerland;
- Preparing and optimizing tax returns for Swiss entities;
- Submitting objections to Swiss tax authorities and appeals to Cantonal and Federal commissions;
- Optimizing and reorganizing legal entities within Switzerland;
- Reviewing valuations of operational companies and legal documents;
- Assisting with set up of new legal entities or liquidation/closure of legal entities and branches;
- Reviewing tax saving opportunities and tax credits with local Finance;
- Supporting Corporate development in acquisition and divestment projects within Switzerland;
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A degree in business administration, tax law, accounting, or a similar field, with a strong academic record;
- +8-10 years of experience in corporate tax and IFRS (IAS12) with large multinational companies, on a global level;
- Detailed international knowledge of tax legislation and accounting principles, and a comprehensive understanding of tax laws and accounting standards in key regions;
- Experience in a broad range of international tax issues, including tax reporting, tax accounting, policies, and Swiss tax compliance;
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to join our team at SGS. We offer a competitive salary package, with a estimated salary of CHF 180,000 - CHF 220,000 per annum, depending on experience. We are open to considering candidates based in Switzerland or willing to relocate. The working model is hybrid.
