Biotech Production Operations Leader

Within the biotechnology production department at Merck Gruppe, you will lead a team of highly skilled technicians and engineers. This team is specialized in producing drug substances for various applications.

Your leadership role involves managing approximately 15 people. You will oversee all activities carried out in two production suites (Upstream and Downstream) to ensure API production meets established schedules, quality standards, and applicable safety regulations.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Service Delivery: Develop and execute production plans to deliver API volumes on time according to supply demands and cGMP requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues to ensure smooth production activities in terms of safety, quality, and business performance.
  • Leadership: Lead production teams to support daily production activities, while fostering employee development and engagement.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budget implementation and prioritize efficiency projects.
  • EHS Compliance: Ensure production processes meet applicable safety regulations.
About You:
  • Masters degree or PhD in Biotechnology / Life Sciences / Chemistry with 5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical production.
  • Perfect knowledge of pharmaceutical production processes and cGMP requirements.
  • 5+ years' management experience in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on employee development and engagement.
  • A collaborative team player, focused on delivering results and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills, fluent in English.
