Bioprocess Engineer Team Lead

About the Role
Lonza, a global leader in life sciences, is seeking a highly skilled Team Lead to join our Biologics organization. As a key member of our Buffer Production Team, you will be responsible for managing and coaching a team of bioprocess engineers. Your primary focus will be on the manufacturing processes and related activities, ensuring the creation and improvement of production supporting documents. You will be accountable for the execution of all production campaigns in your manufacturing unit, adhering to safety, quality, and delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of process engineers, overseeing all aspects of human resource management, including qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions, and discipline issues.
- Implement the Lonza culture by fostering a culture of openness, change, and new ideas, as well as cooperative teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the execution of all production campaigns in your manufacturing unit, adhering to safety, quality, and delivery standards.
- Act as the first point of contact for production issues in your manufacturing unit, following common escalation guidelines.
- Support MSAT, Production Support, QA, and production teams with expertise in solution finding and trouble shooting.
- Represent the operational area in customer meetings, audits, and regulatory inspections.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related disciplines.
- Working experience in biotechnical manufacturing.
- MES and DeltaV experience.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact with various interfaces within the organization.
- Strong team orientation.
- Structured, focused, and well-organized working attitude, with an open-minded approach to new ideas and suggestions.
- Agile, highly motivated, and dynamic drive, with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Business fluency in German and/or English.
