Senior Controller Research and Development

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Controller Research and Development to join our Finance department at Basilea.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for assigned projects and areas in close cooperation with Department Heads, Project Leads, Cost Center Heads, and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting events, including preparation of planning tools and support for the business in the budget process.
- Collect, record, and check data in SAC and SAP, support data consolidation throughout the company, and liaise with Project Leads and Cost Center Heads.
- Monthly closing: run and manage cost assessment cycles, SAC updates, create and support group reports and management presentations, and create reporting packages for Cost Center Heads, Department Heads, and Project Leads.
- Provide value-added input to the Monthly Financial Report (MFR) with insight analysis explaining variances between Actuals and Budget.
- Support the accrual process for assigned cost centers and projects.
- Liaise and coordinate with Procurement on the financial aspects of service contracts and work orders to ensure financial commitments of contracts are correctly reflected into the planning cycles.
- Review and approve invoices and corresponding accounting vouchers.
- Perform payment run.
- Represent Finance in project review meetings and ensure that project costs are tracked accurately.
- Deputize members of the Controlling team as needed.
Requirements
- University or equivalent degree in Finance/Controlling or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, preferably experience with Research & Development projects.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment with a high level of integrity.
- Well-organized and structured with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, keeping the overview and good capacity to prioritize well.
- Sound user knowledge of SAP (SAP FI/CO, MM, PP, SD).
- Proactive personality with excellent communication skills at different levels.
- Very good language skills, fluent in English, spoken and written, any other language is considered beneficial.
