Research Associate in Social Networks and Digital Cultural Consumption

Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified researcher to join our team at DGESS, Social Networks Lab. As a Research Associate in Social Networks and Digital Cultural Consumption, you will be part of an exciting project focused on understanding the dynamics of social networks and their impact on digital cultural consumption.
Responsibilities
- Revisit and further develop theories from the field of cultural sociology to contribute to our understanding of social networks and digital cultural consumption.
- Conceptualize and design innovative data collection strategies and behavioral experiments to advance our knowledge in this area.
- Develop new statistical methods for analyzing digital data with network concepts, potentially collaborating with other team members.
- Engage in interdisciplinary dialogues with experts from computer science, information science, political science, sociology, and other relevant fields to enhance our understanding of how digital systems shape individual preferences and societal implications.
- Present research progress at related conferences to an international, multidisciplinary audience.
Requirements
- An excellent Master's degree in social, computational, statistical, or behavioral sciences, such as sociology, applied math, economics, statistics, social data science, political science, or psychology.
- Prior work, such as a Master thesis, demonstrating a strong interest in quantitative social network research.
- Demonstrated experience in research design and project implementation, including observational data collection, experiment design, and data analysis.
- Strong quantitative analysis and data management skills, including experience in R or Python.
- Strong skills in scientific writing and communication.

The PhD project will start on October 1 or on a mutually agreed-upon date thereafter.
