We are looking for a highly skilled data engineering expert to join our team at Machine Learning Architects Basel (MLAB). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data and ML systems, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a data or software engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering high-quality data projects from the prototype phase to production.

About the Role
  • You will work closely with our clients to understand their requirements and identify best-fit solutions, using your expertise in major data and AI platforms, such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, and MS Fabric.
  • With your strong understanding of data analytics and DataOps best practices, you will design, test, integrate, and operate data, model, and code pipelines, and end-to-end data/ML/LLM systems (DataOps, MLOps & DevOps).
  • As a thought leader in the field of Data Products and Data Mesh, you will contribute to our solution blueprints and concepts, develop technical solutions, and provide expert advice to our clients.
Responsibilities
  • Consulting: You will work with our clients to understand their needs and develop customized solutions.
  • Engineering & Training: You will design and implement data pipelines, ML/LLM integrations, reliability engineering, and platform operationalization.
  • Requirement Analysis: You will analyze customer requirements and identify best-fit solutions.
  • Implementation: You will successfully deliver data projects from the prototype phase to production, integrating and testing data pipelines and platforms, and implementing engineering best practices.
  • Concept Development: You will contribute to our solution blueprints and concepts.
  • Expertise & Thought Leadership: You will strive to become an expert and trusted advisor in the field of Data Products, Data Mesh, and DataOps.
Requirements
  • Professional experience (minimum 5 years) as a Data or Software Engineer with a focus on data and ML systems.
  • Experience with and, ideally certified in major data and AI platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, MS Fabric).
  • Familiarity with data analytics and DataOps best practices, as well as topics such as Data Mesh, Data Lake/Warehouses, and Reliability Engineering.
  • Understanding and strong interest in the end-to-end life cycle of projects, code, model, and data pipelines, and working with various stakeholders.
  • Technical, hands-on experience with at least some of the following:
  • Programming languages
  • Distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark) and data structures
  • SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud Services
  • REST API and microservices
  • Docker and knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Agile development methods and CI/CD
  • Experience working in a client-facing or consulting role
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Swiss passport or a valid EU/EFTA work permit
