Patent Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Scientist to join our team at SICPA. As a key member of our intellectual property department, you will play a crucial role in collecting data, writing technical descriptions, and preparing patent application documents.

• Collaborate with technical and scientific teams to gather data and create technical descriptions for patent applications.
• Support inventors in identifying and defining inventions, and lead the preparation of patent application documents.
• Assist scientists and patent counsels in analyzing 3rd party prior art related to patentability, Freedom to Operate analysis, or patents oppositions.
• Collect data and prepare technical descriptions of technologies for third-party IP risk assessments or patent oppositions.
• Monitor competitors' patents, analyze results, and present findings to internal technology stakeholders.
• Conduct patent and prior art searches and analyses upon request from technical, marketing, or business teams.
• Take on leadership responsibilities and guide the team to achieve goals.

• PhD in Chemistry or Physical Chemistry.
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience in industry, preferably in R&D.
• Experience with intellectual property tasks and patents search tools.
• Experience in people management.
• Broad technical knowledge, curiosity, and openness to new ideas and technologies.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with inventors and patent counsels.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects with tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated leadership and capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Proficient with usual IT tools such as MS Office.
• Fluent in French and English; excellent reading and understanding of German.
