About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Scientist to join our team at SICPA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with technical and scientific teams to collect data and write technical descriptions of products or technologies.
  • Prepare patent application documents and assist inventors in identifying and defining inventions.
  • Support the technical analysis of 3rd party prior art related to patentability and Freedom to Operate analysis.
  • Collect data and prepare technical descriptions of technologies for third-party IP risk assessments and patent oppositions.
  • Operate competitors' patent monitoring, analyze results, and present them to internal technology stakeholders.
  • Conduct patent and prior art searches and analyses upon request from technical, marketing, or business teams.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD in Chemistry or Physical Chemistry.
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in industry, preferably in R&D.
  • Experience with intellectual property tasks and patents search tools.
  • People management experience and a strong analytical mindset.
  • Broad technical knowledge, curiosity, and openness to new ideas and technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with inventors and patent counsels.
