The Institute for Infectious Diseases at the University of Bern is seeking an early career researcher to join our Experimental Virology research group. Our team works on characterizing viral zoonoses and host-pathogen interactions in the respiratory epithelium of humans and animals relevant to emerging viruses.
In this position, you will work on a project investigating the evolution, transmission, and biological and clinical phenotypes of influenza viruses in pigs and humans. You will use genomic, epidemiological, and microbiological data to characterize IAV lineages circulating in pigs and humans in biologically relevant in vitro models of the respiratory epithelium.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a young and enthusiastic research group, with individual mentoring and state-of-the-art research facilities. We offer a dynamic and multidisciplinary work environment, with the possibility of securing career development grants.
To be successful in this position, you should have a PhD in virology or a related field, and experience in molecular virology and advanced cell culture. Fluency in English is required, and previous experience working at biosafety level 3 is an advantage.
