About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Expert Scientist to join our team at ABB. As a key member of our research community, you will drive innovation and development in the field of Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform research in arc simulations, dielectric and thermal simulations with a focus on CFD and numerics.
  • Contribute to the development of MV and LV products by creating simulation tools that enable new product designs and analyze existing products.
  • Develop and lead the research strategy in CFD within ABB, challenging business units with new ideas and developing technology roadmaps.
  • Lead large development projects, sharing technical knowledge and leading others.
  • Influence and contribute to the global research community in this field, staying connected to the latest developments and incorporating them into our research.
Requirements
  • More than 8 years of experience as a senior researcher in the development of breakers, with a successful track record of leading research and development projects.
  • Proven record of developing and applying high-fidelity simulations to low- and medium-voltage devices, especially arc simulations, switchgear behavior, and thermal problems.
  • Strong outreach and connection to the academic world, with the ability to incorporate new methods and ideas into an industrial development process.
  • Experience in leadership and strategy development for research processes, with a proven IP record.
  • In-depth technical expertise in CFD, finite elements, and general numerical methods, with the ability to connect to developments in other industries.
