Research and Development Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scientist / Senior Scientist to join our team at Tandem Therapeutics. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for leading in vitro assay development, identifying and investigating PD biomarkers relevant to disease and drug intervention, and developing and designing experiments and research plans to elucidate therapeutic mechanism of action.
Key Responsibilities- Lead in vitro assay development and validation
- Identify and investigate PD biomarkers relevant to disease and drug intervention
- Develop and design experiments and research plans to elucidate therapeutic mechanism of action
- Conduct and troubleshoot a wide range of biological/molecular/biochemical assays, including FACS, ELISAs, RT-PCR, Western blotting, and co-IPs
- Manage and participate in CRO relationships
- Mentor junior colleagues
- Document, analyze, interpret, and present experimental data in a clear and concise manner, contributing to data room and investor presentations
- Independently research new technologies and approaches to apply to the drug discovery and development pipeline
- Present in high-level conferences, draft and submit manuscripts, and contribute to grant writing
- PhD with 3-8 years of recent lab-based biotech/pharma industry experience
- Experience with human and mouse biomarkers
- Experience with protein assay platforms (ELISA, Luminex, MSD, etc.)
- Experience with flow cytometry methods and interpretation (immunophenotyping, cell markers)
- Experience and ability to plan and execute molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques in 96-well format
- Able to take direction but also work independently and troubleshoot
- Demonstrates attention to detail and record keeping
- Team player: understands and appreciates working towards common goals in a start-up environment and in a small team
- Flexibility to adapt work plans to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
- Background in fibrosis, immunology/inflammation, cytokines, growth factors, extracellular matrix biology
- Knowledge/experience working with biotherapeutics, mix modalities
- Experience with phenotypic assay development (flow cytometry and microscopy)
- Experience in high-throughput screening such as by phenotype, microscopy, ELISA
- Experience with IHC
