The Institute of Environmental Engineering is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team as a project coordinator for a running project on circularity in the building sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating a team of 15 researchers and co-supervising two doctoral students from the Ecological Systems Design Group.
The project focuses on developing frameworks for assessing circular economy strategies, including life cycle assessment (LCA), material flow analysis (MFA), and statistical analysis. The candidate will work closely with the doctoral students to model the embodied and operational energy and emissions of the Swiss building stock using Python programming language, conduct LCAs with the Brightway library, and define and assess various scenarios and circular economy strategies.
In addition to the project responsibilities, the candidate will further develop their research profile in the group, attend conferences, and supervise Bachelor and Master thesis students.
Your Profile
We are looking for a candidate with a doctoral degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, data science, or a related field, with excellent academic records and strong research backgrounds. The ideal candidate should have experience with life cycle assessment, material flow analysis, data analysis, and modeling in Python. Familiarity with building stock modeling is beneficial, and good verbal and written communication skills in English are required. Additional German language skills are appreciated.
