Job Overview

The Universität Bern is seeking a skilled Senior Financial Specialist to oversee the financial operations of its international programs.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on financial activities, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines.
  • Manage and control account balances for IPDET-related projects.
  • Prepare and compile annual financial statements, highlighting key performance indicators.
Grant Management
  • Coordinate financial reporting and forecasting, including semi-annual financial reconciliation and World Bank reporting.
  • Disburse grant payments and facilitate external audits in accordance with World Bank requirements.
  • Maintain and update the World Bank's grant management system, Client Connection.
  • Collaborate closely with task managers and financial teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Procurement and Budgeting
  • Manage tender processes and contract administration, adhering to World Bank procurement guidelines.
  • Utilize the World Bank's STEP procurement system effectively.
  • Collaborate with program heads and officers to develop and manage budget plans.
Requirements
  • A commercial qualification with an accounting focus or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of relevant experience in financial administration, accounting, and financial reporting, preferably in grant management within an international organization.
  • Proficiency in IT applications related to accounting and excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
  • A high level of resilience, adaptability, and independent problem-solving skills.
