At the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), we are seeking recent graduates to join our 2025 cohort of Graduate Interns. This 11-month internship will provide you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge gained during your studies in a professional environment.
The BIS Innovation Hub was established in 2019 with a three-fold mandate: foster in-depth insights into critical trends in financial technology, develop applications using new technologies to address problems in the global financial sector, and foster a network of central bank experts on innovation.
As a member of our Strategy and Operations unit, you will work with top experts from around the world and be part of an intellectually stimulating organisational culture characterised by effective collaboration, high-quality output, and attention to detail.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the BISIH work plan, support the wider central banking community, and gain exposure to ideas and projects beyond your immediate speciality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare research notes on issues related to suptech, regtech, monetary policy tech, next-generation financial market infrastructures, central bank money, open finance, cyber security, and green finance.
- Contribute to the design and organisation of conferences and expert meetings, and the activities of networks of central bank experts on innovation.
- Support the operation of the Innovation Hub and participate in multidisciplinary questions faced by central bankers today.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in IT, Data Science, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, or a related field completed in 2024 or 2025.
- Research experience related to technologies or policies used in the financial sector through a bachelor's/master's thesis.
- Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
- Ability to self-organise and learn quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
