Position Overview
Nestlé SA is seeking an IP Paralegal Professional to join our team. As an IP Paralegal, you will assist Senior Legal Counsel(s) IP in managing the trademark portfolio and driving IP projects independently.
About the Role
We offer a dynamic, inclusive, and international working environment with many opportunities across different businesses, functions, and regions. This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in trademark law within an international environment or a law firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trademark availability searches and analyse the results, making recommendations to the responsible Counsel(s)
- Handle trademark and industrial design registration processes from filing to grant for specific Business Units, setting up protection strategies following business roll-out plans
- Deal with objections from IP Authorities, defensive oppositions by third parties, negotiation of agreements, co-existence terms, and undertakings
- Watch and analyse publication of competitive trademarks and file respective oppositions if necessary, negotiating undertakings and co-existence agreements, and drafting moderately complex legal issues and reports
- Update internal databases and create new files/records as needed, docket and monitor deadlines
- Undertake or assist with projects involving legal research and information, including trademark laws, jurisprudence, best practices, and taskforce
- Gather and organise evidence of use, sales figures, and marketing materials to support trademark and design applications, oppositions, and litigations
- Assist the IP Counsel(s) in litigation activities
Requirements
- Solid experience in trademark law within an international environment or a law firm
- Familiarity with online databases and web-based IP Management Systems, ideally Memotech, or computer literacy for fast onboarding
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities
- Flexible, proactive, team player, able to take initiatives
- Extremely accurate and high attention to detail
- Curious and agile, with the ability to work autonomously
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is a must, with good command of spoken French desirable
