Job Description

UNHCR is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications Officer to join its Global Communications Service. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communications strategies to promote UNHCR's work and raise awareness about refugee and displacement issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communications strategies to support UNHCR's global communications objectives
  • Monitor news and popular trends to identify opportunities for proactive communications
  • Forge strategic partnerships with media outlets, influencers, and other stakeholders to promote UNHCR's content and messaging
  • Contribute to the development of news-driven and authoritative content to lead the narrative on forced displacement and show UNHCR's impact
  • Support the supervisor in ensuring content created reaches maximum impact by developing strategies for distribution and boosting visibility on relevant UNHCR channels
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in journalism and/or communications, mainly at international level
  • Strong social media presence and experience working on advocacy campaigns
  • Experience working with goodwill ambassadors and other high-profile influencers
  • Experience with brand management and measurement and evaluation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in developing and managing editorial calendars
  • Experience in creating donor fundraising and reporting materials from a communication perspective
  • Interest in displacement issues and passion for UNHCR's mandate
Language Requirements

Fluency in English and proficiency in another UN language
