Empa's Laboratory for High Performance Ceramics is a world-renowned research institution in the field of materials science and technology. Our team is dedicated to developing cutting-edge materials for various applications, including energy generation, storage, and advanced processing.

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of new materials. The successful candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and chemistry or materials science.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Developing materials models to optimize processes and designs
  • Optimizing materials through experimental design and simulation
  • Conducting processing experiments and analyzing results
  • Presenting findings in scientific publications and conferences
  • Supervising students and collaborating with colleagues

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in Materials Science or Chemistry combined with Machine Learning experience. They should be proficient in programming languages such as Python, VASP, PySCF, and classical mechanics. Experience with neural network architectures, Bayesian optimization, random forest, kernel models, or Gaussian process regression is also required. The candidate should have a proven track record in publishing peer-reviewed articles and be fluent in oral and written English.
