Senior Mineral Development Research Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mineral Development Research Specialist to work independently on various projects in grinding and dispersion research programs. The successful candidate will actively contribute as a subject matter expert in cross-functional groups, providing laboratory guidance for technicians, technologists, and associate scientists.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry or engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mineral development research. He/She will be responsible for working with chemical additives, including dispersants, grinding aids, and rheology modifiers, in processes such as wet grinding, dry grinding, slurry makedown, surface modification, slurry dewatering, spray drying, slurry stabilization, and particle size and stability analysis of mineral pigments.
The selected candidate will collect, generate, and review data to compile scientific information for decision-makers in the company. He/She will implement the latest scientific findings and methods in their team and independently generate data packages needed for publications, patents, presentations, and other forms of communication.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Clearly defining problems based on input from stakeholders and superiors and conducting literature reviews prior to tackling new projects or technologies;
- Proactively seeking support and mentoring;
- Communicating clearly and effectively in a timely manner to varied technical audiences (internal and external);
- Understanding the alignment of project goals with work packages and defining appropriate tasks;
- Project-oriented work with significant advancements;
- Demonstrating technical competency by developing value-creating solutions when presented with problems of defined scope and impact;
- Using Omya IP processes for protecting value;
- Conducting patent searches and understanding trends and technical needs;
- Consistently demonstrating the highest SHE standards and living by the Omya values.
- University degree in Science or Engineering Field;
- Good command of both oral and written English and German;
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience;
- Demonstrated knowledge in an appropriate natural scientific discipline and a willingness to do practical laboratory work;
- Ability to work independently and display innovative thinking;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Consistently applying the scientific method or statistical design processes;
- Good project management skills;
- Occasional travel may be required;
- Valid driver's license.
We offer a competitive salary package, estimated at CHF 80,000 - 100,000 per year, depending on experience. This figure is inclusive of a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development within our organization.
