Electrical Equipment Specialist

About the Role

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Equipment Specialist to join its Engineering Department. As a key member of the Maintenance and Operation section, you will be responsible for the life-cycle management of low voltage equipment and the operation and maintenance of a portion of CERN's high and low voltage electrical network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the supply contract for low voltage equipment, including regular follow-up with service providers and after-sales service.
  • Carry out necessary procurement actions, such as specific orders or framework contracts.
  • Draw up technical specifications and tendering documents for the maintenance contract.
  • Define the equipment and asset management strategy in CERN's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Provide expertise for corrective or preventive maintenance, or in the event of failure analysis.
  • Organize equipment drawings and as-built documentation.
  • Develop consolidation proposals to ensure the ongoing reliability and availability of equipment.
  • Participate in project planning and execution, providing technical inputs and support.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in equipment and technologies.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Operate the high and low voltage network, including lockouts, switch off/on of electrical equipment, and reconfiguration.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs, document them, and lead/contribute to the preparation of reports.
  • Supervise preventive or corrective maintenance activities.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and operational activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge of electrical equipment associated with low and high voltage electrical networks.
  • Proven experience in contract management.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment composing high and low voltage electrical networks.

Language Skills
  • Spoken and written English: Ability to draw-up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations in English. Ability to understand and speak French in professional contexts would be an advantage.
