**About the Role**
We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team at Alpiq. As a Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing compliance risks in our diversified business environment, which includes power generation, energy trading, and project development across Europe.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough KYC (Know Your Customer) screenings of new business partners and suppliers to identify potential risks related to sanctions, politically exposed persons, embargoes, money laundering, corruption, public (negative) media, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues, including human rights concerns such as child labor, etc.
- Monitor existing business partners and suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support in responding to KYC requests from third parties, including banks, business partners, public authorities, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of all communications, actions, and decisions taken during the due diligence process on business partners and suppliers.
- Ensure the effective use of appropriate tools and platforms to assist in the KYC due diligence process.
- Contribute to the preparation of periodic reports on compliance activities.
Requirements:
- Education in a legal field (e.g., Paralegal) or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of international standards and regulations, particularly in the areas of corruption, bribery, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, trade control laws, and international sustainability standards.
- Experience in performing due diligence and conducting risk assessments.
- Proficiency in English; additional German or other European languages are an asset.
