Job Summary

We are seeking an Application Scientist to help customers apply our detectors in their research and collaborate on projects within their application field. The ideal candidate will be the scientific voice for DECTRIS, engaging with OEM partners, researchers at synchrotron facilities, and laboratories worldwide.

Your Responsibilities
  • Become an expert on our X-ray products, including detectors, their interplay in customer environments, and translating this knowledge into advantages and benefits offered in various X-ray analytical methods
  • Collaborate with researchers as the scientific voice for DECTRIS, providing application support, participating in conferences, conducting workshops and webinars, and demonstrating the benefits of our technology
  • Drive scientific discovery by working closely with product managers to identify new application areas for our detection solutions based on experimental needs
  • Contribute to marketing and sales efforts by partnering with the marketing and sales teams to craft compelling content, such as success stories, application notes, white papers, and deliver presentations showcasing how DECTRIS products help researchers achieve more
Requirements
  • Hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field
  • Possess a strong foundation in X-ray diffraction and a profound expertise in Chemical Crystallography and/or Powder Diffraction is essential; ideally, bring previous experience or a strong curiosity in modern or emerging X-ray techniques like Coherent Scattering Methods, PDF, and Scanning X-Ray Applications
  • Proven experience in scientific research and a strong academic network
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with scientists from diverse backgrounds
  • A passion for science and a genuine desire to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and concise language
  • Interest and experience in X-ray instrumentation and method development are advantageous
  • Experience in scientific writing, presentation delivery, user training, and scientific marketing are advantageous
  • Be willing to travel up to 30% to meet people, extend your network, and collect new experiences

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is between CHF 80,000 and CHF 110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you can expect excellent benefits, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
