Job Title: Junior Legal Officer, P1

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Legal Officer to join its team in the Registry of the ILO Administrative Tribunal.

Job Summary

The Junior Legal Officer will provide support to the Registrar and judges of the Tribunal in the preparation of cases, research, and drafting of judgments. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft summaries of cases and notes of jurisprudence in English and French, working from written submissions in both languages.
  • Undertake research and studies on problems relating to international administrative law and related relevant jurisprudence.
  • Support the Judges and the Registrar during the Tribunal sessions, preparing background material and documents as requested.
  • Participate in internal Registry meetings of legal officers and contribute to updating the Triblex database.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Registrar.
Requirements
  • First level university degree in law.
  • Relevant professional experience would be an advantage.
  • Excellent command of two working languages (English and French) of the Tribunal.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior.
Conditions of Employment
  • Any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to ILO Staff Regulations and other relevant internal rules.
  • Any offer of employment with the ILO is conditional upon certification by the ILO Medical Adviser that the person concerned is medically fit to perform the specific inherent requirements of the position offered.

Please note that any extension of technical cooperation contracts are subject to various elements including the availability of funds, continuing need of the functions, and satisfactory conduct and performance.
