Job Summary

We are seeking a Responsible Sourcing Adviser to join our global team in Geneva. As a key member of our ESG team, you will play a crucial role in strengthening our ESG Due Diligence processes for metals and energy supply chains.

Main Responsibilities

Due Diligence (75%)

  • Work closely with the Human Rights Manager to enhance our ESG DD processes, mitigating risk and preparing for future regulation.
  • Conduct KYC on counterparties, collaborating with the Vitol compliance team.
  • Implement risk-based measures to monitor activities with higher potential salient risk profiles, based on the Vitol Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) results.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant DD laws globally and develop practical solutions for their implementation.
  • Conduct on-the-ground ESG DD assessments.

Analysis & Reporting (20%)

  • Analyze Human Rights and Environmental DD: benchmarking, interpreting results.
  • Follow up on grievance/human rights data submitted to Vitol.
  • Provide information and ensure DD process meets regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Contribute to executive reporting.

Ad hoc support (5%)

  • Contribute to other ESG-related projects & initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree (or higher) in a relevant subject, e.g., Law, Human rights, Public policy, Sustainability, Finance, Economics, Science.
  • 6+ years' experience in a similar role in a mining, energy or commodity trading firm.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize and find pragmatic solutions.
  • Analytical mindset, quantitative, excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, with superb attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial drive, ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to convey complex concepts in simple terms.
  • Full proficiency communicating in English in a business context (verbally and in writing).
  • Travel internationally.
