Job Description

**Job Title:** Nurse Specialist

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our team at Medecins Sans Frontieres. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our nursing team and providing expert care to patients in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • **Plan and Organise Nursing Activities:** Develop and implement nursing plans to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • **Vaccination Campaigns:** Plan and implement vaccination campaigns to prevent the spread of diseases.
  • **Health Post Management:** Establish and manage health posts to provide accessible healthcare services to patients.
  • **Mother-Child Health Programmes:** Develop and implement programmes to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children.
  • **Medicine Management:** Monitor the use of medicines and ensure that treatments are administered in accordance with MSF protocols.
  • **Pharmacy Management:** Oversee the proper management of the pharmacy to ensure that medicines are stored and dispensed safely.
  • **International Orders:** Handle international orders for medicines and medical supplies.
  • **Hygiene Procedures:** Monitor adherence to hygiene procedures to prevent the spread of diseases.
  • **Protocol Development:** Support the development and implementation of protocols and standards for nursing care.
  • **Staff Management:** Train, supervise, and manage local nursing staff and community health providers.
  • **Duty Roster:** Coordinate the duty roster, shifts, and on-calls of nursing staff.
  • **Reporting:** Contribute to monthly reports according to guidelines.

**Requirements:**

  • **Registered Nurse Diploma:** A registered nurse diploma is required.
  • **Nursing Experience:** Two years' post-qualification nursing experience, preferably in internal medicine, emergency room, pediatrics, neonatology, intensive care, geriatrics, or surgery.
  • **Recent Clinical Experience:** Recent clinical experience (at least six months within the last 24 months) is required.
  • **Tropical Medicine Diploma:** A diploma in tropical medicine (minimum eight-week course) or two months' relevant nursing experience in a tropical environment is required.
  • **IT Skills:** IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are required.
  • **Language:** Fluency in English and/or French is required.
  • **Availability:** Availability for a minimum of six months is required.
  • **Commitment:** A commitment to MSF's work and values is required.
  • **Team Player:** A strong team player with a willingness to work in all kinds of contexts worldwide, including unstable areas.
  • **Adaptability:** Adaptability and the ability to work in a multicultural team are essential.
  • **Stress Management:** Flexible and able to manage stress.
  • **Training:** Ability to train others.

  • **Infection Prevention Control:** Experience or diploma in infection prevention control.
  • **Developing Countries:** Experience working in developing countries.
