Expert Ophthalmology Scientist Lead

The Opportunity

In Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist to develop novel drugs for ocular diseases within our Ophthalmology team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading research teams and developing novel therapeutic approaches for ophthalmic diseases. You will be responsible for defining your strategy in alignment with the Head of the group and ensuring the delivery of your projects, including budget management and resource allocation.

Your Impact and Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute research strategies to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets for ocular diseases.
  • Lead and manage a team of scientists and associates allocated to your projects, inspiring a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Plan, organize, and analyze experiments to advance our understanding of ophthalmic diseases and develop novel therapeutic approaches.
  • Communicate research results through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific meetings.
  • Collaborate with external academic and corporate partners to advance our research goals.

Requirements

  • PhD in sciences with a minimum of 8 years of research experience in ophthalmology or related fields.
  • Strong publication record with articles in high-impact journals.
  • Proven track record of leading independent research and a team.
  • Recognized as a key opinion leader in the field and have proven support in external funding.

Desirable

  • Experience in drug development is a clear asset for the role.
  • Reached the level of Associate or Associate Professor.
  • Fluent English level and ability to lead presentations in front of a board committee.
