Job Summary
The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ship's air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This includes maintaining and repairing equipment, performing routine checks, and collaborating with the Chief Refrigeration Technician to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with the Chief Refrigeration Technician to develop and implement maintenance and upkeep procedures for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor and report any malfunctions or issues with the systems to the Chief Refrigeration Technician.
- Participate in daily maintenance activities with the refrigeration team, following instructions from the Chief Refrigeration Technician.
- Perform regular checks to ensure all provisions rooms and air-conditioning substations are functioning correctly, updating daily logs and reporting any issues to the Chief Refrigeration Technician.
- Assist with night standby duties and replace the assigned assistant as needed.
- Collaborate with the refrigeration team to maintain Guest and Crew cabins, fan rooms, AC filters, and other refrigerators in accordance with the Chief Refrigeration Technician's instructions.
Requirements
- Fluent in oral and written English and Italian, with knowledge of other foreign languages a major advantage.
- High School Graduation with relevant licenses from certified technical institutes.
- At least 5 years of experience in the position on board ships or similar international environments.
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems and MS Office suite.
- Good supervisory skills, crisis management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Physical integrity and ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 Kg.
- STCW95 training and security awareness training are compulsory.
- A recognized medical certification is required before starting work onboard.
VISA Requirements
Visa working permits, entry, and/or transit visas may be required depending on the ship's itinerary.
