IT Specialist for Bioimage Analysis Platform

The Universität Bern is seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art bioimage analysis platform. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, setting up, and maintaining the platform, ensuring seamless collaboration with other IT specialists and a bioimage analysis specialist.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the platform development team to select and design the bioimage analysis platform, exploring and testing existing solutions.
- Purchase or adapt existing hardware platforms to meet the needs of bioimage analysis.
- Setup, configure, and maintain the bioimage analysis platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Work closely with the bioimage analysis application specialist to ensure requested tools are available on the platform.
- Monitor system performance and platform usage, identifying areas for improvement.
- Setup a managed data storage resource, such as OMERO, and ensure it works in conjunction with the platform.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Proven experience in setting up and managing computing infrastructure for research purposes.
- Proven experience in system administration.
- Previous experience with SLURM is highly desirable.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration is highly desirable.
- Previous exposure to the bioimage analysis field is a plus.
- Efficient communication skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
