About Status

Status is a pioneering organization in the development of secure, private, and open web3 tools and infrastructure.

As a product, Status is an open-source, Ethereum-based app that empowers users to chat, transact, and access decentralized applications on the web.

Our team is distributed globally, with a strong focus on autonomy, minimal hierarchy, and open-source principles.

The Role

Status Desktop is currently in beta for Mac, Windows, and Linux platforms. Our current focus is on the privacy-centric messenger and group chat functionality.

We are seeking multiple senior experienced C++/QML UI developers to join our growing desktop dev team and contribute to the development of a permissionless, decentralized, censorship-proof group chat platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new features, enhance existing functionality, and fix issues in the Status Desktop application.
  • Help develop and maintain Status's QML UI component library.
  • Advise and assist other developers in the Desktop team to solve challenging QML UI development problems.
  • Contribute to C++ and Go codebases.
  • Be a resident expert for everything related to C++ and Qt/QML UI development.

Requirements

We are looking for experienced C++/QML UI developers with a strong attention to detail and a willingness to deliver pixel-perfect UI according to designs.

Key Requirements:

  • Expert-level experience implementing UIs using Qt/QML/C++.
  • A strong ability to think about components and modules as part of a larger system.
  • Experience with multithreading/concurrency.
  • Good communication skills in English.

Bonus Points

Experience working in an open-source organization, a strong interest in blockchain technology, and knowledge of Go and/or Nim are a plus.

We are happy to pay in either fiat or a mix of fiat and/or crypto.
