Founding Mobile UX Designer

At Circleup, we are on a mission to simplify social scheduling and encourage offline meetups. As a Founding Mobile UX Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our mobile app and creating an intuitive user interface that resonates with our users.

We are a self-financed startup at a pre-product-market-fit stage, and we are looking for a talented UX designer who can help us iterate quickly and improve our product to achieve organic growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, as well as expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Key responsibilities include leading the design of Circleup's mobile app, developing and iterating on new features, conducting user research and analyzing user behavior to inform design decisions, creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups, and collaborating closely with the development team to ensure seamless implementation of designs.

Requirements
  • Lead the design of Circleup's mobile app, creating an intuitive and engaging user interface that simplifies social scheduling and encourages offline meetups.
  • Develop and iterate on new features that align with Circleup's mission of creating more quality time between people.
  • Conduct user research and analyze user behavior to inform design decisions and improve the overall user experience.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for new features and improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
  • Continuously iterate on the app's design based on user feedback and data-driven insights.
  • Develop a deep understanding of user psychology and apply this knowledge to create compelling and emotionally resonant designs.
  • Contribute to the startup's product strategy by proposing innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Design and conduct A/B tests to optimize user engagement and retention.
  • Ensure consistency in design language across all touchpoints of the Circleup app.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • No formal education requirements - we value skills, experience, and passion over degrees.
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating world-class UI/UX design skills for mobile applications.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative features that solve complex user problems.
  • Deep empathy for users and a proven track record of designing products that resonate on an emotional level.
  • Experience with design systems and the ability to create and maintain them.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with mobile design guidelines for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and interpreting data to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the design process from concept to implementation.
  • Passion for social connections and improving people's offline interactions.
  • Adaptability and willingness to iterate quickly in a fast-paced, startup environment.
