Key Responsibilities- Design and develop advanced cryogenic equipment, including the application of finite element analysis and thermal-hydraulic analyses of cryogenic systems.
- Verify the compliance of cryogenic equipment with applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in technical reviews to validate the design developed by industrial suppliers.
- Assist the engineer in charge in overseeing the suppliers' design activities.
- Contribute to the follow-up of the production and installation of the Cryogenic Distribution System.
- Demonstrated experience in the thermal and mechanical design of systems and comprehensive knowledge of the associated methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience with Finite Element analysis (ANSYS).
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
- Experience of engineering documentation and projects.
- Working in multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Fluent in English.
- Nationality: You are a national of a CERN member state.
- Professional background: You have a professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
- CERN experience: You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

What We Offer- A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).

- Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
- 30 days of paid leave per year.
- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
