Refrigeration Specialist

The primary objective of the Refrigeration Technician role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship's air conditioning system, provisions area refrigeration units, and all refrigerators on board, in collaboration with the Chief Refrigeration Technician.

• Consult daily with the Chief Refrigeration Technician to discuss methods and procedures for maintaining and upkeeping the air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Keep the Chief Refrigeration Technician informed of all activities and developments.
• Be on standby during the night in case of emergencies or immediate interventions on the air conditioning or refrigeration plants.
• Participate in daily work with the refrigeration team, taking instructions from the Chief Refrigeration Technician.
• Perform regular checks to ensure that all provisions rooms and air-conditioning substations are at the correct set point, updating the relative daily logs, and reporting any issues or faults to the Chief Refrigeration Technician or their delegate.
• Replace the assigned assistant for night standby duty, if necessary.
• Contribute to daily maintenance with the refrigeration team concerning Guest and Crew cabins, fan rooms, AC filters, and other refrigerators, in accordance with the Chief Refrigeration Technician or their delegate.
• Operate with full consideration for the comfort and safety of Guests.

• Fluent in oral and written English and Italian, with knowledge of other foreign languages being a significant advantage.
• High School Graduation with relevant licenses obtained from certified technical institutes.
• At least 5 years of experience in the position on board of ships or in similar international environments.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems and MS Office suite.
• Good supervisory skills, crisis, and problem-handling abilities.
• Physical integrity and ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, using hands to touch, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling, lifting and/or moving up to 25 Kg, and having full ability of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• STCW95 trainings are compulsory (Basic fire fighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security, and social responsibility).
• Proficiency in security awareness training is required.
• A recognised medical certification is required before starting to work onboard.

VISA working permit, Entry and/or Transit VISAs may be required depending on ship itinerary.
