Job Title: WHO Consultant for IPC Program Development

WHO is seeking a highly qualified consultant to support the development of IPC programs in various settings. The consultant will work closely with the WHO team to design and implement effective IPC programs, ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IPC programs in healthcare facilities, including sepsis and AMR prevention.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop training resources and plans to support IPC program implementation.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the development of national and facility-level IPC programs.
  • Support healthcare-associated infection (HAI) surveillance and outbreak prevention and management.
  • Develop and implement standard and transmission-based precautions.
  • Support the prevention of specific HAIs, such as catheter-associated urinary tract infection and catheter-associated bloodstream infection.
  • Monitor and evaluate IPC programs and practices, providing recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Essential:
    • First university degree in medicine, medical sciences, or nursing with specialization in IPC, hygiene, public health, or infectious diseases.
    • Advanced level university degree (master's level or above) in medicine, medical sciences, or nursing with specialization in IPC, hygiene, public health, or infectious diseases.
  • Desirable:
    • Qualification in epidemiology.
    • Postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology and/or clinical research.
Skills and Languages:
  • Essential:
    • Expert knowledge of English.
  • Desirable:
    • Intermediate knowledge of any other UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish).
Location and Travel:

Off-site: Home-based.

The consultant is expected to travel.

Remuneration and Budget:

Remuneration:

Band level B: USD 7,000 - 9,980 per month or USD 350 – 499 per day.

Band level C: USD 10,000 - 12,500 per month or USD 350 – 499 per day.

Living expenses (A living expense is payable to on-site consultants who are internationally recruited): N/A

Expected duration of contract: Up to 6 months; there may be subsequent contracts in addition to a first contract, subject to continuous technical need, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
