Revenue Recognition Expert

Job Summary:

The Financial Analyst - Revenue Accounting will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing customer contract terms to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and accounting standards. This individual will also be responsible for collaborating with the Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to identify any accounting and financial impacts during the contract proposal and drafting phases.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts and Sales teams to identify any accounting and financial impacts during the contract proposal and drafting phases.
  • Assist with aligning internal controls to developments in the business for changes in operations as needed.
  • Manage specific accruals related to revenue acceleration/deferral related to performance obligations under 606/842.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve and automate revenue accounting processes.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly revenue accounting close procedures relating to revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
  • Review, maintain records, and ensure timely booking of accruals for sales rebates, commission, and special contract arrangements.
  • Work closely with FP&A and Sales Ops to forecast and follow up on fulfillment of contracts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three to five years of related Financial Analysis and Accounting Experience.
  • Strong knowledge of technical GAAP, specifically revenue recognition.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to drive discussions at different levels of the organization.
  • Strong spreadsheet and database management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to identify inherent risks and propose areas for improvements on existing and new processes.
  • A solid understanding of the concepts of internal control design and operational effectiveness.

Education:

  • Master's/Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent.
