Primary School Leadership Team Member

The International School of Lausanne is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Primary School Leadership Team Member to join our team. As an IB PYP Programme Coordinator, you will play a key role in leading the development and implementation of our Primary School curriculum, ensuring a strong intellectual, physical, social, and emotional foundation for our students.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and coordination of the PYP/learning program, ensuring common approaches to teaching and learning and strong horizontal and vertical alignment in the school's curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Primary School Leadership Team to assess future curriculum needs and develop a clear vision for the PYP within the wider school.
  • Co-lead whole school curriculum review with the MYP and Diploma Coordinator, ensuring a cohesive and effective curriculum for all students.
  • Support the development of core aspects of the PYP, including the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning, Units of Inquiry, and the PYP Exhibition.
  • Support teachers who are new to the PYP, providing guidance and resources to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Play a key role in the promotion of professional learning, ensuring that all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Lead the appraisal of a proportion of primary school staff, providing constructive feedback and support for growth and development.
  • Support parents new to the PYP, providing information and resources to ensure a positive and supportive experience for all families.
  • Co-lead academic transitions into the MYP with the MYP Coordinator, ensuring a seamless transition for all students.
  • Revising and updating all relevant IB policies, ensuring that they are aligned with the school's mission and values.
  • Assist in collecting, analysing, and reporting to stakeholders on student data for learning, ensuring that all data is used constructively to inform curriculum development.
Desired Profile
  • A recognised teaching qualification at graduate or post-graduate level.
  • At least 5 years of PYP experience, particularly in international settings.
  • Leadership experience, either of part of the programme such as the Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning, Units of Inquiry and the PYP Exhibition, or of the programme as a whole is a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to articulate a clear vision for the PYP within the wider school.
  • Commitment to the concept and practice of a school-wide instructional coaching model.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and sustain trusting relationships with staff, children, and parents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage change and build a shared understanding.
  • Well-organised person with ability to set deadlines and deliver results.
  • Ability to use data constructively for curriculum development.
  • High level of cultural awareness and international mindedness.
  • Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy.
  • Commitment to self-reflection and professional development.
  • Proficiency in English; ability to communicate effectively in French would be a strong asset to further support our approach to language learning.
