We are seeking an experienced Electronics Development Expert to join our team at Leica Geosystems AG.

About the Role:

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly skilled professional to contribute to all aspects of electronics development, from idea to product. You will be responsible for designing and implementing complex FPGA designs in VHDL (Xilinx Vivado), creating high-speed interfaces, and developing hardware-accelerated DSP systems.

You will also be involved in verifying and co-simulating FPGA designs, writing firmware in C/C++, debugging, characterizing, and optimizing electronic submodules and camera/LiDAR systems.

Effective collaboration with hardware, software, mechanics, and system experts, as well as external electronic design partners, is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement complex FPGA designs in VHDL (Xilinx Vivado)
  • Create high-speed interfaces and develop hardware-accelerated DSP systems
  • Verify and co-simulate FPGA designs
  • Write firmware in C/C++
  • Debug, characterize, and optimize electronic submodules and camera/LiDAR systems
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A higher education degree (BSc, MSc) in electrical engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience with complex VHDL designs
  • Knowledge of GIT/Github, Altassian Confluence/Jira is an advantage
  • Experience in Matlab or Python is preferred
  • Experience with Linux for embedded systems is a plus
  • Very good knowledge of German (B2) and technical English (B2)
