Job Overview

OCHA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Human Rights Officer/ Open-Source Investigator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting digital open-source investigations and verification on human rights violations, as well as providing analytical support to the Commission.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in open-source investigations, human rights law, and international relations. You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting digital open-source investigations and verification on allegations of human rights violations, including analyzing complex data sets and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner;
  • Maintaining awareness of current human rights issues and developments in the region, and identifying areas where further investigation is required;
  • Providing analytical support to the Commission, including drafting reports and presentations on human rights issues;
  • Liaising with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to gather information and coordinate efforts;
  • Participating in hearings and consultations, and preparing summaries of results.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A first-level university degree in law, political science, international relations, or a related field;
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in open-source investigations, human rights law, or a related area;
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify and analyze complex patterns and trends;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with proficiency in Arabic and/or Hebrew being an asset.
