Global Communications Strategist and Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Global Communications Strategist and Officer to join our team at Medecins Sans Frontieres. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will require you to develop, implement, and maintain effective communication strategies across various contexts.
About the Role- We are seeking an experienced communications professional with a strong track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies in complex and dynamic environments.
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in journalism, communications, humanitarian affairs, or a related field and a minimum of four years' experience in international communications, journalism, or public relations.
As a Global Communications Strategist and Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to support MSF's mission and objectives;
- Maintaining close contact and collaborating with key local media, including organizing events such as press conferences and press briefings;
- Managing and monitoring MSF social media network accounts, producing and disseminating content, and moderating online conversations;
- Producing strategic reports on the local media landscape, including key media outlets, audience members, political affiliation, ownership, freedom of speech, and use of social media;
- Acting as a spokesperson during emergencies to alleviate high media pressure and providing technical support to project teams on external communication;
- Identifying human resources needs for communications, hiring where relevant, and managing, coaching, and developing direct reports;
- Working and collaborating extensively with communications and operational colleagues to ensure effective communication and coordination across MSF projects.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A degree in journalism, communications, humanitarian affairs, or a related field;
- A minimum of four years' experience in international communications, journalism, or public relations;
- At least one year's experience working in developing countries or unstable contexts;
- Social media skills, including community management and identification of networks;
- Knowledge of audio-visual skills, including creation and production of tools;
- IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Native English speaker or a track record of English editing; fluency in any other language is a considerable asset;
- Availability for a minimum of six months;
- Commitment to MSF's work and values;
- Strong team player with experience in people management and negotiation skills.
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $60,000 per annum, plus benefits and opportunities for career development and growth.
