Financial Governance Specialist

At Company 81 - Manulife Data Services Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Governance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the completion of daily business deliverables and adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements and Schedules of Services.
- Collaborate with Investment Operations and other internal/external teams on process and production updates and issues relevant to task completion.
- Review Cash and Position exceptions as part of the Recon Governance model.
- Deliver and/or quality check simple to complex data-structured dashboards, with the ability to train team members in building business dashboards.
- Lead operational process improvements, recommend, and initiate tactical solutions/initiatives and actively participate in projects such as system transitions (UAT), process transformations, etc.
- Aid in the successful delivery of compliance, audit, and regulatory facilitated requirements.
- Aid in the technical capability development of the team, ensuring procedures are updated and leading the annual procedure exercise.
- Aid in the preparation of Management Information reports, including data gathering and data cleansing.
- Remain updated with relevant industry developments and market-specific best practices.
- Act as a back-up Subject Matter Expert as required, participating in a regular program of industry-specific training and interdepartmental cross-training to ensure continuity of service and capability development.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related course.
- At least five years of related work experience.
- CISI certifications, CPA/CFA designation is an advantage.
- Project Management and Operational Excellence training/certification such as PMO, Agile - SCRUM, Six Sigma is an advantage.
- Operational experience in functions related to Investments/Market Operations such as reconciliations, asset servicing, settlements, onboarding, static.
- Intermediate knowledge of different investment products required.
- Intermediate to Advanced MS Office skills.
- Track record of continuous improvement projects leveraging Power Platform is an advantage.
- Experience delivering automation projects in collaboration with Robotics and Machine Learning Technology teams is an advantage.
- Knowledge in third-party financial data platforms, e.g., OMGEO, Bloomberg is an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of the Investments/Markets Operations business and the different functions in the trade lifecycle.
- Basic knowledge of related disciplines and the ability to assist team members with less experience.
- Keen attention to details and strong analytical ability, with the capability to resolve complex problems and take perspectives on existing solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and agile, quick to pick-up on tight deadlines and changes in requirements.
- Strong Risk and Controls acumen, with attention to quality, able to perform investigation and root cause analysis on operational incidents, and assist with internal and external audit and key controls activities.
- Ability to lead projects or project steps within a broader project, contribute to process improvements.
- Effective Facilitation and Presentation skills.
- Ability to perform quality check/controls and administer technical coaching for performance as needed.
