Senior Climate Information Specialist

The World Meteorological Organization is seeking a highly skilled Senior Climate Information Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Climate Monitoring and Policy Services Division, you will play a crucial role in supporting the preparation of WMO policy-relevant climate science information and its incorporation into flagship climate policy products.
Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in developing modern approaches for the visualization and communication of climate variability and climate change information, as well as working on developing tools and platforms for modern data collection and input from countries, regional and global data centers related to monitoring climate trends and extreme events and associated risks and impacts.
In addition, you will organize workshops to promote best practices in communicating climate change information at regional and national scales, in collaboration with the WMO Regional Offices and relevant United Nations specialized agencies. You will also lead the improvement of communication on projects to enable their better understanding by Members, in collaboration with the Members Services Department, the Strategic Communication Office, and other relevant internal and external entities.
As a Senior Climate Information Specialist, you will collaborate with WMO departments and offices, National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), National Statistical Offices, partners, and international organizations on data and synthesis related to weather and climate and their influence on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To be successful in this role, you must have a Master's degree or equivalent in international development, environmental studies, or a closely related field, as well as a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in climate change and related data analysis and communication. Experience with the United Nations development and climate change frameworks would be an advantage, as would excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
